Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) is expected to play against the Washington Commanders, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Njoku, who has been sidelined since Week 1, participated in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday, though he missed Thursday’s session.
Officially listed as questionable for Week 5, he is expected to return to the lineup after missing three games. Jordan Akins filled in during Njoku’s absence.
In the Browns’ Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, Njoku recorded four catches for 44 yards.
The Browns have ruled out several key players for Sunday’s game, including running back Nick Chubb (knee), Nyheim Hines (knee), offensive tackle James Hudson, defensive end Alex Wright (triceps), and linebacker Jordan Hicks (ribs/elbow/triceps).
Cleveland, sitting at 1-3, will face the Commanders, who have a 3-1 record, at 1 p.m. ET.
Other injury updates for Week 5 include Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral), who is expected to play against the Texans.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (ankle) is also expected to play in Sunday night’s game against the Steelers, while Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) is a long shot to play against the Colts.
