After three seasons with Miami, third-year wide receiver Isaiah Horton is exploring a move to the SEC.
Horton entered the transfer portal on Dec. 16 and is set to visit Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M before finalizing his decision.
Initially, Horton confirmed plans to visit Alabama and Texas A&M, beginning with the Crimson Tide on Dec. 19, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Nick Kelly of AL.com. Later, On3 Sports reported that Horton would also visit Georgia before making his choice.
In 2024, Horton emerged as a key player for Miami, finishing second on the team with 56 receptions and third with 616 receiving yards.
His five touchdown catches were also the third-most on the team. After a breakout year as one of Cam Ward’s top targets, Horton was expected to be Miami’s No. 1 receiving option in 2025.
However, his entry into the transfer portal caught many by surprise.
Horton, who entered 2024 as a redshirt sophomore, will have up to two years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
He appeared in only one game in 2022 and initially joined Miami as a four-star recruit from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Isaiah Horton Projected to Sign with Alabama
Although Horton still has visits lined up, multiple projections suggest the 6-foot-4 wideout is likely to commit to Alabama.
If he does, his addition would bolster an offense undergoing a transitional period in Kalen DeBoer’s second year as head coach.
Alabama’s quarterback Jalen Milroe is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving DeBoer with the task of finding a new leader for the offense.
However, the return of 17-year-old phenom Ryan Williams as the team’s presumed No. 1 receiver provides a strong foundation.
Adding Horton to the mix would create a dynamic receiving duo alongside Williams, easing the transition for Alabama’s next quarterback.
The tandem’s potential could be a game-changer for the Crimson Tide offense.
