Former NASCAR team owner Bob Rahilly sustained severe injuries when his Union County, North Carolina, home was destroyed by fire earlier this month. The blaze occurred early on Sunday, January 12, at his residence on Stevens Mill Road.
Multiple fire departments collaborated to extinguish the flames, as reported by the Hemby Bridge Fire Department, which shared images depicting significant fire damage to the property.
Rahilly, co-owner of RahMoc Enterprises—a NASCAR Cup Series team active from 1978 to 1992—suffered third-degree burns and lacerations from an exploding sliding glass door during the incident.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center, where he may remain for up to two months, according to updates shared by his husband on Facebook.
Throughout its tenure, RahMoc Enterprises secured four Cup Series victories, all with driver Neil Bonnett. The team also achieved 36 top-five and 109 top-10 finishes in 359 starts.
Notable drivers such as Harry Gant, Kyle Petty, Tim Richmond, and Morgan Shepherd also competed for RahMoc Enterprises. Following his time as a team owner, Rahilly returned to his roots as an engine builder.
The NASCAR community has expressed support for Rahilly during his recovery. FDNY Racing, where Rahilly served as a longtime crew chief, extended thoughts and prayers to him and his family.
