Chris Buescher Ready for Chaos at The Clash: ‘We’ll Catch Traffic Fast’

Chris Buescher is set to start on the front row for tonight’s Busch Light Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium after winning his heat race Saturday night. The RFK Racing driver showcased his short-track prowess on the tight quarter-mile bullring, putting himself in prime position for the 23-car feature event. However, Buescher knows that starting up front is only part of the battle—managing traffic will be crucial.

“We’re going to catch lapped cars quick,” Buescher said after securing his front-row starting spot. “With this many cars on such a tight track, there’s nowhere to hide. It’s going to be about staying clean and making smart moves when we hit traffic because it’s going to happen fast.”

Bowman Gray Stadium, known as “The Madhouse,” is infamous for its tight racing, short tempers, and little room for error. While the Clash is an exhibition event, the competitive nature of NASCAR drivers ensures that the 150-lap race will be intense from start to finish.

Buescher, who has proven to be a strong short-track racer in recent seasons, is looking to build momentum heading into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Last year, he emerged as a title contender with RFK Racing, scoring three wins and making a deep playoff run. A strong showing at the Clash could set the tone for another big year.

“It’s always good to start up front, but with how quick we’ll be in traffic, you have to stay on your toes,” Buescher added. “It’s going to be elbows-up racing the whole way.”

The green flag for the Busch Light Clash drops tonight, with Buescher and the rest of the field set to battle it out under the lights at one of the most historic short tracks in the country. Fans can expect hard racing, close-quarters battles, and plenty of drama as NASCAR kicks off its 2024 season in spectacular fashion.
