Bubba Wallace has long been one of NASCAR’s most polarizing figures, not because of his talent on the track, but due to the intense scrutiny and criticism he faces from a vocal segment of fans. Now, a respected NASCAR veteran has had enough, delivering a scathing rebuke to those who continually target Wallace with unwarranted hate.

“This Has Gone Too Far”
During a recent media appearance, the veteran—who has spent decades in the sport—didn’t hold back when addressing the relentless negativity aimed at Wallace.
“This isn’t about racing anymore. This is about people who refuse to give the guy a fair shot no matter what he does,” he said. “You can’t tell me that every driver who gets into a scuffle, makes a mistake, or speaks their mind gets the same level of backlash he does. It’s ridiculous.”
While Wallace has had his share of on-track incidents—like any other driver—his critics often take their attacks far beyond racing. Whether it’s aggressive driving, emotional interviews, or even simply celebrating a good run, Wallace seems to attract a level of hostility that many believe is unfairly amplified.
Wallace’s Performance Speaks for Itself
The 23XI Racing driver has proven himself on multiple occasions, including his historic 2021 victory at Talladega and a playoff berth in 2023. Despite his success, some fans refuse to acknowledge his achievements, often diminishing his wins or claiming he only has a ride due to sponsorship appeal.
The veteran called out that narrative directly.
“Look at the results. Look at how much he’s improved. You don’t make the playoffs in NASCAR just by showing up. You don’t finish second in the Daytona 500 because of luck alone. The guy belongs here, and the hate needs to stop.”
A Pattern of Unfair Criticism
Wallace has faced an uphill battle throughout his career, particularly after becoming an outspoken advocate for diversity and social change in the sport. While NASCAR has made strides in welcoming new fans and promoting inclusivity, Wallace remains a lightning rod for controversy—often for reasons that have nothing to do with his performance.
Other drivers have had heated moments—whether it’s Kyle Busch’s fiery interviews, Ross Chastain’s aggressive driving, or Denny Hamlin’s on-track incidents—but none receive the same relentless hostility.
“It’s not about what he does. It’s about who he is,” the veteran added bluntly. “And that’s the problem.”
Will the Hate Ever Stop?
Wallace has remained resilient through it all, continuing to push forward in his career while acknowledging the pressure that comes with being in the spotlight.

“I race for my team, my family, and the people who support me,” Wallace has said in the past. “The rest? I tune it out.”
