Legends Honored: 2025 NMPA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Tonight, the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Hall of Fame welcomes a distinguished class of inductees, each of whom has left an enduring mark on motorsports. This year’s honorees—Lyn St. James, Parnelli Jones (represented by his son PJ), Tim Brewer, and Don Schumacher—represent excellence across multiple disciplines of racing, from stock cars to drag racing and open-wheel competition.

Lyn St. James: A Trailblazer in Motorsports

Lyn St. James’ impact on motorsports extends far beyond her accomplishments behind the wheel. As one of the most successful female drivers in racing history, she broke barriers in open-wheel and endurance racing, including her groundbreaking career at the Indianapolis 500. With multiple starts at Indy and victories in sports car racing, St. James has been a champion for diversity and inclusion in the sport, inspiring the next generation of racers.

Parnelli Jones: A Racing Icon

While the late Parnelli Jones couldn’t be present to accept his honor, his son, PJ Jones, proudly represents him tonight. Parnelli’s career was legendary, spanning NASCAR, IndyCar, Trans-Am, and off-road racing. He became the first driver to break the 150-mph barrier at the Indianapolis 500 and secured a dramatic win in the 1963 Indy 500. His versatility behind the wheel made him a true motorsports icon, with championships and victories across numerous disciplines.

Tim Brewer: A Mastermind of NASCAR Crew Chiefing

Few crew chiefs have left as significant a mark on NASCAR as Tim Brewer. With multiple Cup Series championships, including two titles with Cale Yarborough (1978) and Darrell Waltrip (1981), Brewer’s influence on the sport is undeniable. His strategic mind, mechanical expertise, and ability to lead teams to success cement his legacy as one of NASCAR’s greatest crew chiefs.

Don Schumacher: Drag Racing Powerhouse

A titan in NHRA drag racing, Don Schumacher revolutionized the sport both as a driver and team owner. His Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) team became one of the most dominant forces in Funny Car and Top Fuel racing, securing multiple championships and redefining team operations in the NHRA. Schumacher’s contributions extended beyond competition, as he played a crucial role in developing safety innovations and expanding the reach of drag racing.

A Night to Remember

The 2025 NMPA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is a celebration of excellence, honoring individuals who have shaped motorsports history. From open-wheel pioneers to NASCAR strategists and drag racing innovators, this year’s class is a testament to the sport’s rich legacy.

As the motorsports world gathers to recognize these icons, their impact will continue to inspire racers, fans, and industry professionals for generations to come.
