In a historic crossover of American horsepower and European endurance, NASCAR’s 2023 entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans will soon be immortalized on screen. Prime Video has announced the upcoming premiere of a new documentary chronicling the unprecedented Garage 56 project, set to debut on June 12th.

The feature-length documentary, produced in collaboration with NASCAR Studios and Hendrick Motorsports, will offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at one of the sport’s boldest international ventures: fielding a modified stock car in the world’s most prestigious endurance race.
The 2023 Le Mans entry marked NASCAR’s first appearance at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe since 1976. The project featured a specially prepared Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, backed by a powerhouse trio—Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet, and Goodyear—with drivers Jenson Button, Jimmie Johnson, and Mike Rockenfeller at the helm.
While the No. 24 car wasn’t competing for a class win, it quickly became one of the stars of the race weekend. Roaring through the French countryside with unmistakable American flair, the Garage 56 Camaro impressed fans and competitors alike, proving that a stock car could hang with some of the world’s most advanced machines.
The upcoming documentary promises exclusive interviews with the drivers, engineers, and NASCAR executives who brought the vision to life, along with never-before-seen footage from inside the garage, on the track, and across the Atlantic.
“We wanted to do something bold, something that honored our heritage while pushing boundaries,” said NASCAR’s Steve O’Donnell in a recent statement. “This documentary captures that spirit.”
Prime Video’s growing commitment to motorsports storytelling—through recent NASCAR projects and its upcoming Earnhardt docuseries—has been praised for bringing fans closer to the action than ever before. The Le Mans documentary is expected to follow suit, offering not just race coverage, but the emotion, stakes, and strategy that defined this unique moment in NASCAR history.
The film will be available for streaming globally on Prime Video starting June 12, just days after the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off—creating a perfect opportunity for fans to relive last year’s thunderous moment before this year’s green flag drops.
