NASCAR’s Las Vegas Race Draws Strong Viewership on USA Network, Ranks No. 2 on Cable Sports Sunday

October 14, 2025

NASCAR’s return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway delivered solid television numbers for USA Network, as Sunday’s South Point 400 earned a 0.84 rating and attracted 1.717 million viewers, according to Nielsen data.

While there’s no direct year-over-year comparison — last year’s event aired on NBC instead of USA — the numbers mark a strong performance for cable coverage. The Las Vegas race ranked as the No. 2 most-watched sporting event on cable for the day, trailing only the Broncos vs. Jets NFL matchup.

Even more impressively, the South Point 400 delivered NASCAR’s best cable viewership since the Darlington race earlier this season, underscoring the sport’s continued ability to draw a dedicated national audience, even outside network television.

The broadcast featured intense playoff racing action as Cup Series drivers battled for a spot in the Championship 4. With high stakes, on-track drama, and tight competition under the bright Nevada sun, viewers tuned in across the country to see who would take control of the Round of 8.

The solid ratings also reinforce NASCAR’s growing momentum on USA Network, which has steadily built a strong base of motorsports coverage since taking over a major portion of NBC Sports’ cable lineup. With consistent scheduling, cross-promotion, and a focus on storytelling, USA has become a reliable home for NASCAR fans.

As the playoffs continue to heat up, NASCAR will look to carry that audience forward into the next round — where every race, every lap, and every decision could determine who competes for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
