Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains in first place on the NBA’s MVP rankings.

There are just three weeks remaining, and all signs point to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander having a strong advantage in the MVP race against Nikola Jokic. After going back and forth, the fact that he tops the NBA’s MVP rankings again this week shows that the highly regarded award is likely his to lose.

Gilgeous-Alexander stands at the top of the MVP rankings. NBA writer Shaun Powell stated that the Oklahoma City Thunder’s impressive achievements, along with his outstanding scoring skills, create a strong case for him to win the MVP award.

“OKC has won 14 out of its last 15 games, and Gilgeous-Alexander plays a major role in that—despite missing some games—and in the Thunder’s overall success this season,” Powell explained. “His performance has been consistent and efficient since the first game. It’s clear that they are the top team in the West.” While not wanting to jinx anything, the once intense MVP competition has cooled down a bit lately. With Jokic out and the Nuggets facing challenges, it’s becoming easier to picture Gilgeous-Alexander claiming his first MVP title.
