Kelly’s daughter Buku Abi says in a recent documentary that her dad sexually harmed her when she was young.
Abi, who is the daughter of Kelly and his ex-wife Andrea “Drea” Kelly, revealed this in the documentary series R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey was shown on the TVEI Streaming Network on Friday, October 11th.
She said, “He meant the world to me.” Abi, also known as Joann Kelly, admits in the episode that she didn’t want to believe what had happened for a while. She was afraid to speak out because she didn’t think anyone would believe her, even though she knew the person who hurt her was not a good person.
I was too afraid to tell my mom.” In the next episode, Abi, who is now 26 years old, says the abuse happened when she was 8 or 9 years old. “I just remember waking up to him touching me,” she says, tears in her eyes. “I didn’t know what to do, so I just lay there and pretended to be asleep,” she said.
“After that, I felt like a changed person.” Abi told her mom about the abuse in 2009, but the complaint filed under the name “Jane Doe” couldn’t lead to prosecution because too much time had passed. “At that time, I felt like I spoke without any result,” she mentioned.
Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean told People that the singer in prison “strongly denies these claims. His former wife said the same thing before, and it was looked into by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and found to be untrue.
” The people who made the movie didn’t even ask Mr. Kelly or his team to defend against these mean accusations. The singer, Robert Sylvester Kelly, is in jail for 30 years because he was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021.
In 2022, he was also found guilty of six counts of child pornography and persuading a young person to do sexual things. Right now, you can watch the first two episodes of R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey on the TVEI Streaming Network.
