The Penalty Puzzle: Keselowski Seeks Answers

At the FireKeepers Casino 400 in Brooklyn, Michigan, on Sunday, Brad Keselowski talked about his Michigan International Speedway Cup race penalty, which undid all of his hard work. Keselowski talked about this, saying that the pit stall and the penalty were disappointing since they could have been better. Keselowski started the race in 27th place and finished in 10th. In Stage 1, he steadily rose to 21st place, but after an early stop, he lost several positions and had to go back to pit road to fill up. By the end of Stage 2, he was in 25th place due to this and a speeding penalty. Keselowski did, however, manage to move up a few spots in the final stage restart
and was on his way to a strong finish. Ultimately, he registered 10th place behind teammate Ryan Preece and ahead of Legacy Motor Club’s Erik Jones.

“We had an excellent vehicle. We had a top two or three car, and I felt like we didn’t get to finish it. I am truly dissatisfied. Due to the speeding penalty and the subsequent need to navigate the 45 and 71, we kind of ruined ourselves on pit road. We would lose a lot of positions each time we pitted,” Keselowski remarked. (Through NBC) “We simply needed a better pit stall; the pit crew wasn’t at fault. Regarding the speeding penalty, I’m not entirely sure. We had the speed to do much more than we did today, and I’m sad that I didn’t get that. I felt like I was really slow, so getting dubbed quick didn’t really add up. However, we’re still fairly happy with a top 10,” the RFK driver added.
