Broncos WR Josh Reynolds Injured in Shocking Shooting Incident

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an incident outside a strip club last week, according to Janet Oravetz of 9News.

The shooting, which took place on the morning of October 18, left Reynolds with injuries to the back of his head and left arm, as indicated in court documents.

Another man was also wounded in the incident, which occurred hours after the Broncos’ win over the Saints. Reynolds, who is currently on IR due to a finger injury, did not travel to New Orleans for the game.

The Broncos signed Reynolds to a two-year, $9 million deal this offseason. He was placed on IR nearly a week before the shooting incident, making the injury a secondary concern for the team given the circumstances.

Despite the incident, the Broncos released a statement (via the Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson) assuring that Reynolds is okay and has received treatment for minor injuries.

As reported by 9News’ Mike Klis, Reynolds has been seen observing Broncos practices from the sideline this week.

On the night of the incident, Reynolds, 29, left the club around 3 a.m. with two other men.

They were followed by two drivers, and gunshots were fired shortly after. According to court documents, there was no conflict inside the club prior to the shooting.

The vehicle Reynolds was in became undrivable when it reached the highway, prompting the men inside to flee. Reynolds and his companions also sustained injuries while climbing over a fence to evade the shooters, as reported by Oravetz.

Police have arrested two men in connection with the crime.

Security footage from Shotgun Willies, the club where the incident occurred, showed one of the suspects observing the victims inside the club and later following them in a vehicle.

The Broncos signed Reynolds after trading Jerry Jeudy to the Browns. Reynolds had played out his contract with the Lions, joining them in 2021 and becoming a key target for Jared Goff, who he had also played with on the Rams.

Last season, the 6-foot-3 wideout caught 40 passes for 608 yards. With Detroit focusing on increasing Jameson Williams’ role, their offer to Reynolds didn’t match Denver’s.

Reynolds was used as a complementary target during quarterback Bo Nix’s first month with the Broncos. Before being placed on IR, he had caught 12 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown.

Denver’s receiving group now features Reynolds and Courtland Sutton, along with three younger players—Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, and Devaughn Vele—who were drafted in the past two years. Reynolds started one game before going on IR.
