CeeDee Lamb Opens Up on Dak Prescott’s Interceptions: ‘We All Need to Step Up

Cowboys Nearly Mount Comeback Thanks to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb Connection

Whether it was due to the San Francisco 49ers easing up or a newfound rhythm between the two, the Dallas Cowboys came close to staging a comeback from a 17-point deficit on Sunday Night Football.

A significant part of that effort came from quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb finally finding their groove, though it didn’t fully alleviate the frustrations surrounding the team.

Lamb, who finished with 13 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns, racked up 92 yards in the fourth quarter to help the Cowboys claw back into the game.

Despite the effort, Lamb described the loss as “sickening” in his postgame comments.

“We’re about to get this thing rolling, for sure,” Lamb told reporters. “We gotta maintain the momentum, we can’t really go out too up and down.”

The Cowboys’ offense has been experiencing growing pains, with a lackluster run game and concerns about pass protection.

Additionally, Prescott has struggled, throwing two interceptions on Sunday, bringing his season total to eight—just one less than he had throughout the entire 2023 season.

When asked about Prescott’s turnovers, Lamb offered a candid perspective, acknowledging that some of the blame falls on the quarterback, but the receivers also share responsibility for not being physical enough.

“It’s some things that we can’t control, some things that we can,” Lamb said. “As for him, I know he can do better and have a better read.

And for us, we can have better routes, fight at the top of the routes. There are plenty of ways you can avoid an interception, you know what I’m saying? And on both parties.

I know he can vouch for that, but as for us, I can only speak for us, and we have to be more physical at the top of the route.”

Lamb’s remarks echoed recent criticisms from Troy Aikman, who pointed out that the Cowboys’ receivers needed to be more physical in their route running.

Despite Lamb’s productive night, many of the team’s recurring issues were on display once again in Santa Clara. However, the first-team All-Pro remains confident that Dallas can turn things around after their 3-4 start to the season.

“We’ll be alright, we’ll bounce back,” Lamb said. “Everybody’s frustrated because we lost, nobody likes (losing), you can’t let that carry over.”
