Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell delivered an emotional tribute to Aidan Hutchinson after the star defensive end suffered a season-ending injury during the Lions’ dominant 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.
Hutchinson’s injury occurred in the third quarter when he sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, but the brutal leg injury led to him being carted off the field.
The injury is believed to be severe, and Hutchinson will stay in Dallas for further evaluation.
Campbell was visibly emotional when addressing the media after the game, describing Hutchinson’s absence as “tough” and emphasizing the significant impact the loss of such a key player would have on the team.
Hutchinson had been in the midst of a stellar season, leading the NFL in sacks and looking like a contender for Defensive Player of the Year before this unfortunate event.
Despite the loss, Campbell expressed confidence in the team’s resilience, as they rallied around their injured teammate and powered through to claim their third consecutive win.
Jared Goff led the Lions’ offense with 315 passing yards and three touchdowns, while David Montgomery added 80 rushing yards and two scores.
This victory highlighted Detroit’s determination to overcome adversity, but Campbell’s thoughts remained with Hutchinson and his recovery.
