Wenceslao Gonzalez, a lifelong Dallas cowboys, along with is wife Lindsey and their daughter Emma, had their lives “turned upside down” after a violent attack at their first-ever cowboys game.
The family had attended the cowboys’ game against the Baltimore Ravens on September 22 as a birthday celebration for Wenceslao.
However as they were leaving AT&T stadium, they encountered a disturbing scene where a man was screaming at a sobbing young woman.
Wenceslao attempted to diffuse the situation but ended up in an altercation with the man, identified as 32 -years -old Rafael Ramirez.
Ramirez allegedly punched Wenceslao in the face and when Lindsey intervened to separate the two men, she was brutally attacked as well.
Ramirez reportedly knocked Lindsey out with a punch to her head and then kicked her in her face while she was on the ground
Lindsey sustained severe injuries, including 12 facial fractures, damage to her left eyes, cheek and nose as well as a broken jaw.
She required surgery on September 24 to address these injuries. Wenceslao also suffered a fractured foot, leaving both unable to work
Ramirez was arrested and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury but was released on bail the day after the attack.
Lindsey expressed her hope for justice, while their daughter Emma criticized the lack of police presence and security at the stadium, feeling the situation could have been handled better.
