Former New York Jets center and seven-time Pro Bowler Nick Mangold made an emotional announcement today, revealing that he is in need of a kidney donor with Type O blood.
Mangold, 41, shared the news publicly to raise awareness and hopefully find a match, emphasizing the importance of organ donation and early health screenings. Known for his toughness and leadership during an 11-season NFL career, the former Jets standout is now facing one of the biggest challenges of his life — off the field.
“I’ve always believed in the power of teamwork,” Mangold said in a statement. “Now, I’m in a situation where I need a teammate in a different way. I’m looking for a kidney donor with Type O blood who can help me get back to full strength.”
