NFL Trade Notes: Updates on 49ers, Chiefs, Ravens, and Seahawks

With the 49ers facing several injuries at the wide receiver position, highlighted by Brandon Aiyuk’s ACL tear, the team has been speculated as a potential buyer for pass-catching help.

However, general manager John Lynch remains confident in San Francisco’s current options.

“I wouldn’t say that specifically,” Lynch said when asked about the possibility of pursuing a trade for a receiver (via David Bonilla of 49ersWebZone.com).

“I mean, we look into every situation to see if it can help us at every position. It’s a lot harder to do than people realize. People aren’t into giving up players that can really help you.”

When fully healthy, the 49ers’ wide receiver corps consists of Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, Chris Conley, Jacob Cowing, Ronnie Bell, and first-round rookie Ricky Pearsall.

Pearsall, who returned from an offseason gunshot wound, has made two appearances, recording seven catches for 59 yards.

If Pearsall can emerge as a reliable contributor, it would help mitigate the loss of Aiyuk.

San Francisco has also been linked to a possible reunion with Kendrick Bourne, though the veteran prefers to stay with the New England Patriots.

Other trade-related notes from around the NFL:

DeAndre Hopkins made his debut for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, registering two catches.

The three-time All-Pro became the latest receiver to be traded ahead of the November 5 deadline, providing a boost to a Chiefs team missing Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown for the remainder of the season and currently without Skyy Moore.

On the defensive side, another move could be forthcoming. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that the defending champions might be looking to acquire a cornerback.

Jaylen Watson’s fractured ankle makes his return in 2024 unlikely, which could prompt the Chiefs to seek reinforcements at the CB position.

The Ravens struggled defensively in their Week 8 loss to the Browns, and currently rank 26th in scoring defense, allowing a league-worst 291 passing yards per game.

It’s no surprise, then, that Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic suggests Baltimore would likely look to add a defender before the trade deadline.

The team has already been linked to potential edge rush acquisitions, but the recent benching of safety Marcus Williams could also indicate that a move for a safety might be in consideration.

The Ravens have $4.36 million in cap space, which could facilitate a modest midseason addition.

The 2024 trading period opened with the Seahawks acquiring Roy Robertson-Harris from the Jaguars, adding an experienced presence to their defensive interior.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, injuries did not influence the decision; rather, the Seahawks have been using Robertson-Harris as part of a rotation on the defensive line alongside their younger players.

The 31-year-old has made seven tackles in his two appearances for Seattle.
