The Seahawks have reached an agreement with former Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp on a three-year, $45 million deal, as reported on March 14, 2025, by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo.
Staying within the NFC West, Kupp, who has earned All-Pro honors and was named Offensive Player of the Year, played the last eight seasons in Los Angeles. During that time, he accumulated 634 receptions for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns.
As a vital part of the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI championship team in 2021, Kupp earned the MVP award in the decisive victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, capping off a remarkable season in which he led the league in receiving with 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145 catches.
However, injuries and age have affected his performance, prompting the Rams to part ways with the franchise great after unsuccessfully seeking a trade at the start of free agency. Seattle stepped in to sign him following his release on March 12, adding veteran experience to a receiving corps that recently lost two key players.
Kupp’s signing is part of the Seahawks’ extensive offensive revamp this offseason. They released Tyler Lockett on March 5 and traded DK Metcalf to the Steelers just days later, leaving breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the leading wide receiver. Similar to Kupp, Smith-Njigba excels at finding open space on short and intermediate routes, while 6-foot-4 Jake Bobo and quick-paced Marquez Valdes-Scantling serve as the team’s deep threat options.
They will be catching passes from new quarterback Sam Darnold, who replaces Geno Smith after his trade to the Las Vegas Raiders. These changes transformed the receiving group in Seattle, but for Kupp, there’s a sense of familiarity. Although he spent eight years in Los Angeles, the 31-year-old is returning to his native Washington, where he can compete against his former team twice a year in pursuit of divisional dominance.
