Sign Joe Burrow’s Ex-WR as Mel Kiper Expects Broncos to Draft ‘Nightmare’ WR for Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos have undoubtedly emerged as the most improved team this offseason, according to former NFL star Chase Daniel, who commended Sean Payton for prioritizing the enhancement of the defense, which is essential for supporting the quarterback. Similar efforts are being made on offense, contingent upon the right decisions. Currently, the free-agent market has slowed down following the initial frenzy that began last Monday, where the Broncos quickly secured talent like Evan Engram while other teams were still trying to make their moves. However, veteran receivers are still available, even if they aren’t in their prime, and they could be valuable for a team with pressing needs in running back, receiver, and punter positions.

There is little left in the punter market, and the top running back available is J.K. Dobbins, making it likely that the Broncos will consider the NFL Draft for future roster needs. When it comes to veteran wide receivers, reports suggest they might pursue Tyler Boyd, who was drafted by the Bengals in 2016. Though his performance has waned recently, he recorded an impressive 39 catches last season with the Titans and has only missed a handful of games over the past four years, making him a strong option for the Broncos.

Other veteran receivers like Elijah Moore and Brandin Cooks are also on the market. Moore has faced challenges with instability at quarterback throughout his career but has still managed 120 catches over the last two seasons, providing a cost-effective option as a slot receiver. Meanwhile, Brandin Cooks, who has a history with Payton from their time with the Saints, may offer depth after a down year with just 26 catches for 259 yards.

Should the Broncos opt not to sign a veteran receiver, they are likely eyeing the NFL Draft. Predictions from Mel Kiper Jr. suggest they may target Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with their first-round pick. Standing at 6’4” and weighing 219 pounds, McMillan has put up impressive numbers over three seasons, including 213 receptions, 3,423 yards, and 26 touchdowns. His consecutive 1,300-yard seasons indicate his potential as a formidable target alongside Courtland Sutton and Evan Engram, making him a player who could pose a significant challenge to defenses.
