Titans Waive Former Third-Round Pick OT Nicholas Petit-Frere

In a surprising roster move, the Tennessee Titans have officially waived offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, the team announced today. The former third-round pick, once viewed as a promising piece of the Titans’ offensive line future, now finds himself on the open market just two years after being drafted.

Petit-Frere, selected 69th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, saw significant playing time as a rookie, starting 16 games at right tackle. His size, athleticism, and collegiate pedigree gave the Titans hope that he could anchor a spot on the offensive front for years to come. However, inconsistency and off-field issues quickly clouded his trajectory.

In 2023, Petit-Frere was suspended for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, costing him the first six games of the season. When he returned, he struggled to regain his starting role and later suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery. Despite flashes of potential, his development stalled amid growing competition and organizational changes.

The Titans, under new head coach Brian Callahan and general manager Ran Carthon, have made several moves to reshape the roster and revamp the offensive line, including the addition of veteran free agents and recent draft picks. Ultimately, Petit-Frere became the odd man out in a crowded and evolving depth chart.

At just 24 years old and with starting experience in the NFL, Petit-Frere will likely draw interest from teams in need of depth along the offensive line. His departure from Tennessee marks the end of a brief and turbulent stint, but also opens the door for a fresh start elsewhere.

For the Titans, waiving Petit-Frere signals a continued commitment to building a more consistent and disciplined unit up front as they prepare for a new era in 2025.
