The University of North Carolina football community is mourning the loss of Tylee Craft, a talented wide receiver whose courageous battle with cancer inspired countless people. Craft passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the age of 23, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, positivity, and determination.

A Promising Football Career Cut Short

Tylee Craft’s football journey began with great promise. A four-star recruit out of Sumter High School in South Carolina, Craft joined the Tar Heels in 2020 and played 11 games over two seasons. His athleticism and skill on the field were undeniable, and he was poised to make a significant impact in the ACC.

In March 2022, Craft’s life took a dramatic turn when he was diagnosed with stage four large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer. The news shocked the UNC community, and Craft’s football career was put on hold.
