Aric Almirola Returns to Joe Gibbs Racing for Nine-Race Xfinity Series Slate

Aric Almirola is set to return to Joe Gibbs Racing’s (JGR) Xfinity Series program in 2025, taking the wheel for nine races with the powerhouse organization. The move marks a reunion between Almirola and JGR, where he previously competed in the Xfinity Series earlier in his career.

A Veteran Presence for JGR

Almirola, who stepped away from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition after 2023, brings a wealth of experience back to the Xfinity Series. With multiple wins in both the Cup and Xfinity Series, his addition to JGR’s lineup provides a strong veteran presence to the team’s already competitive stable.

“I’m excited to be back with Joe Gibbs Racing and have the opportunity to compete at a high level in the Xfinity Series,” Almirola said. “JGR has a championship-winning program, and I’m looking forward to helping the team in any way I can.”

Building on Past Success

Almirola last raced for JGR in the Xfinity Series in 2007, where he was part of the No. 20 team’s efforts before moving on to a long career in the Cup Series. Now, nearly two decades later, he returns with more experience and a fresh opportunity to add to his Xfinity Series résumé.

Though the full schedule of Almirola’s races has yet to be announced, he is expected to compete at a mix of intermediate tracks, short tracks, and superspeedways. His presence will also provide valuable feedback to JGR’s younger drivers as they develop within the organization.

A Strong Addition to JGR’s Xfinity Lineup

JGR’s Xfinity Series program has long been one of the strongest in the garage, consistently fielding competitive cars capable of winning races. With Almirola joining the team for select events, JGR adds another proven driver to its rotation, increasing its chances for success throughout the season.

As the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season unfolds, Almirola’s return will be one to watch. With his experience, skill, and history with JGR, fans can expect to see him contending for wins in his nine-race slate.
