The zMAX CARS Tour’s beloved Throwback 276 at Hickory Motor Speedway is set to be bigger and better in 2024, with a significant purse increase and exciting fan engagement opportunities. Scheduled for July 27, this event has become a highlight of the summer racing calendar, celebrating the rich history of short track racing.
Major Purse Increase
In lieu of the Old North State Nationals, which previously offered a $30,000 prize, the CARS Tour has redistributed funds to enhance payouts across three key events. The Throwback 276 will now award $10,000 to the Late Model Stock Car (LMSC) winner and $5,000 to the Pro Late Model (PLM) victor. This adjustment aims to provide more drivers with opportunities for substantial earnings throughout the season.
Incentives for Throwback Schemes
Adding to the event’s allure, Five Star Bodies and Ford Performance are offering incentives to teams showcasing tribute schemes. Five Star Bodies will award $500 and a complete Late Model Stock body to the team with the best throwback paint scheme, as voted by fans on FloRacing. Second-place teams will receive a $250 certificate. Ford Performance is also providing undisclosed bonuses to Ford teams participating with tribute designs.
Fan Engagement
Fans play a pivotal role in the Throwback 276 experience. The “Best Appearing Car” contest allows fans to vote for their favorite throwback designs on FloRacing, with the winning team receiving additional prizes. This interactive element enhances the connection between teams and their supporters, making the event a true celebration of racing heritage.
With increased payouts and engaging fan activities, the 2024 Throwback 276 at Hickory Motor Speedway promises to be an unforgettable event for drivers and fans alike.
