Chase Briscoe on Daytona 500 Penalty: “It Doesn’t Change Much About 2025”

Chase Briscoe left the Daytona 500 with a mix of emotions—disappointment over a costly penalty but unwavering confidence in his 2025 future. While the infraction may have hurt his season opener, Briscoe made it clear: his expectations remain unchanged.

Frustration Over the Penalty

Briscoe, making his first official start for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) in the No. 19 Toyota, was hit with a penalty during the Great American Race that impacted his final result. Though he didn’t shy away from expressing his frustration, he also made it clear that this setback doesn’t alter his long-term goals.

“Yeah, it’s frustrating, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t change what I expect out of myself,” Briscoe said. “With the level of equipment at JGR, I felt like I should be winning races this year anyway.”

Big Expectations with JGR

Briscoe’s move to Joe Gibbs Racing for 2025 had already placed him in the spotlight. With JGR’s history of producing champions and race-winning speed, there’s little room for anything less than success.

After several years at Stewart-Haas Racing, Briscoe now has top-tier equipment under him, and he knows that means more than just running up front—it means delivering wins.

“There are no excuses at JGR,” Briscoe added. “This is a team that wins races and competes for championships. That’s why I came here, and that’s what I intend to do.”

What’s Next?

Despite the Daytona 500 setback, Briscoe isn’t dwelling on the past. He’s shifting focus to the upcoming races, knowing he has plenty of time to prove himself in his new ride.

With high expectations and top-tier equipment, Chase Briscoe’s 2025 outlook remains crystal clear: he’s here to win.
