Conner Zilisch Reflects After Heartbreaking Finish: “It Will Come”
After a tough and emotional day at the track, Conner Zilisch opened up about the disappointment of falling just short of victory. In a candid post on social media, Zilisch admitted he was feeling sore following the race but said the real pain came from knowing he couldn’t close out the win for his team.

“Sore today but more than anything just upset that I couldn’t close that one out for my team,” Zilisch wrote. “If we keep putting ourselves in position to win races, it will come.”
Zilisch’s performance was nothing short of impressive. He battled up front, putting himself in position to contend for the win as the laps wound down. Although the final result wasn’t what he and his team had hoped for, the speed, determination, and fight he showed didn’t go unnoticed — both from fans and fellow competitors.
In his message, Zilisch also took a moment to thank those who checked in on him after the race:
“Thank you to everyone who reached out to make sure I was okay.”
At just 18 years old, Zilisch is already proving that he’s one to watch. His natural talent, combined with a strong mindset and relentless work ethic, is building a foundation for long-term success. While Sunday’s finish was tough to swallow, Zilisch’s positive attitude signals that it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through into victory lane.
For now, Zilisch and his team will regroup, learn, and come back even stronger — a mindset that champions are built on.
