Joey Logano Calls for More Horsepower: “Go Big or Go Home” for the No. 22

Coming off a string of strong but not dominant performances, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion made it clear this week: he’s not interested in incremental progress — he wants raw power, more speed, and race-winning firepower under the hood.
“I’m not here to settle for small changes,” Logano said. “I want more horsepower. I want to feel the car come alive again. If we’re going to go after wins, we need to go all in.”
The No. 22 team has been consistently competitive in 2025, with several top-10 finishes and a car that’s fast — but just shy of unstoppable. That margin, Logano says, is where races are won and lost.
Pushing the Limits
With ongoing discussions around potential engine updates, aero packages, and even chassis development, Logano’s message is aimed not just at his team — but at NASCAR as a whole.
“This sport was built on speed, on pushing limits,” he added. “I think the fans want to see us really let it rip — and so do we.”
The push for more horsepower isn’t new, but it’s gaining traction among veteran drivers who remember the days when engines roared a little louder and races felt more ferocious. Logano’s comments reflect a desire to return to that edge.
Team Penske Response
Crew chief Paul Wolfe backed Logano’s sentiment, saying, “We’re working with what we’ve got, but if there’s a way to unlock more performance, we’ll find it. Joey wants to win, and so do we.”
The Penske garage has already been exploring engine tweaks and aerodynamic refinements as the season approaches its summer stretch. With Logano in playoff contention, the timing for a performance surge couldn’t be better.
The Road Ahead
Logano will take that “go big or go home” mentality into next week’s race in Chicago — a high-speed street course where bravery and horsepower go hand in hand.
