As a second-generation NASCAR driver and the current pilot of the No. 21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers Racing, Harrison Burton is no stranger to being in the spotlight. But it’s not just on the track where Burton is turning heads. Lately, the 23-year-old driver has been grabbing attention in his own residential neighborhood—thanks to a standout performance vehicle from Ford parked in his driveway.
Living the Ford Lifestyle
Driving for a Ford-backed team has its perks, and one of them includes access to some of the Blue Oval’s most impressive vehicles. Recently, Burton has been spotted driving one of Ford’s standout performance models around his neighborhood, sparking plenty of conversations and curiosity among his neighbors.
Speaking about the experience, Burton shared, “It’s funny because I’m used to having lots of eyeballs on me when I’m at the racetrack, but I didn’t expect to have the same thing happen in my own neighborhood. Every time I pull into the driveway, someone stops to ask me about the car.”
While Burton didn’t specify the exact model, it’s widely believed to be a Ford Mustang Dark Horse or another high-performance offering from Ford Performance, both of which align with Ford’s commitment to blending cutting-edge engineering with eye-catching design.
The Neighborhood Reaction
Burton described his neighbors’ reactions as a mix of admiration and awe. “People are always asking me to rev the engine or show them the interior,” Burton said with a laugh. “It’s like the car has become the neighborhood celebrity.”
The attention is well-deserved. Ford’s latest generation of performance vehicles has been designed not only to dominate the road but also to showcase the brand’s racing DNA. For Burton, it’s a seamless connection between his professional life as a NASCAR driver and his day-to-day life.
“Ford does such an amazing job translating what we do on the track into cars that anyone can drive. It’s really cool to see people’s faces light up when they see what these cars can do,” Burton added.
The Ford-NASCAR Connection
As a Ford Performance driver, Burton is part of a long lineage of racers who have carried the automaker’s banner in NASCAR. The partnership between Ford and Wood Brothers Racing dates back decades, and Burton takes pride in representing the iconic brand.
“It’s more than just a sponsorship—it’s a family,” Burton said. “When I’m racing the Mustang on Sundays, I feel like I’m part of something bigger. And when I get behind the wheel of one of Ford’s performance cars during the week, it reminds me why Ford is so special.”
A Growing Connection with Fans
Burton’s presence in the community—and the attention his Ford car has brought—has also given him a unique way to connect with fans outside the track. “It’s been fun talking to people about the car and seeing their reactions. Some of my neighbors didn’t know I was a NASCAR driver until they saw the car and asked about it. Now they’re watching races and rooting for me,” he said.
As Burton prepares for the 2024 NASCAR season, he remains focused on delivering strong results for Wood Brothers Racing and Ford Performance. But in the meantime, he’s enjoying the unexpected role of being a performance ambassador in his own neighborhood.
“It’s great to share my passion for cars and racing with the people around me. Whether it’s at the track or in my driveway, it’s all about sharing that excitement,” Burton said.
With the combination of Ford’s standout vehicles and Burton’s rising star power, it’s clear that all eyes—on and off the track—are on him. For Burton, that’s just another part of the ride.
