“Massive Fines and Suspensions Rock NASCAR After Shocking Circuit of the Americas Race”

NASCAR has imposed significant penalties following the recent Cup Series race at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.

Driver Austin Cindric received a $50,000 fine and lost 50 driver points after intentionally causing Ty Dillon to spin on the fourth lap.

NASCAR deemed this action as deliberately wrecking another vehicle, violating Sections 4.4 B&D of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct.

However, Cindric was not suspended, with NASCAR citing the road course’s lower speeds and the absence of a caution flag as factors in their decision.

Additionally, the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team faced penalties due to a safety violation. During Stage 2 of the race, Kyle Larson’s car lost a right-front wheel after a pit stop.

As a result, crew members Brandon Johnson (jackman) and Blaine Anderson (front tire changer) have been suspended for the next two Cup Series races, including events at Phoenix Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Eric Ludwig and Jafar Hall will temporarily replace Johnson and Anderson, respectively, starting with the upcoming race in Phoenix.

These penalties underscore NASCAR’s commitment to maintaining safety standards and fair competition within the sport.
