During the ESPN broadcast, cameras captured the Joe Gibbs Racing driver in the stands, donning Ohio State apparel and energetically supporting the Buckeyes. A friend of Hamlin’s, Charlie Wend, shared a photo on Instagram of Hamlin holding up an Ohio State flag, further highlighting his allegiance.

With just over two minutes remaining, defensive end Jack Sawyer forced a fumble from Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers on a fourth-and-goal attempt. Sawyer recovered the ball and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown, sealing Ohio State’s win and their advancement to the national championship game against Notre Dame.
