NASCAR President Steve Phelps has recently addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding the potential entry of a new manufacturer into the sport.
In a candid interview, Phelps confirmed that NASCAR is engaged in “robust discussions” with multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and expressed optimism about the prospect of expanding the current lineup, which includes Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota.
Phelps stated, “We are having robust discussions with a number of [original equipment] partners that someday, if I had to guess and were a betting man, something is going to hit.
I just don’t know with whom or the timing of that.” He emphasized the sincerity of these discussions, adding, “There’s no BS in the comment I just made.”
The introduction of a fourth manufacturer has been a topic of interest within the NASCAR community. Rumors have circulated about brands like Honda considering entry into the sport.
