NASCAR has officially upheld two-race suspensions for key pit crew members of the No. 14 and No. 8 teams following a wheel detachment issue, while RFK Racing’s No. 6 team is also dealing with a suspension due to a substance abuse policy violation.

Briscoe and Busch Teams Penalized for Wheel Coming Off
The teams of Chase Briscoe (No. 14, Stewart-Haas Racing) and Kyle Busch (No. 8, Richard Childress Racing) were hit with suspensions after their cars lost wheels during competition. Per NASCAR’s rulebook, the tire changer and jackman from both teams will sit out the next two Cup Series races.
Loose wheels have long been a point of emphasis for NASCAR’s safety regulations, especially with the introduction of the Next Gen car, which uses a single-lug nut system. A detached wheel poses a significant risk to competitors, officials, and fans, leading to automatic penalties.
Keselowski’s Rear Tire Changer Suspended for Substance Policy Violation
RFK Racing’s No. 6 team, driven by Brad Keselowski, is also dealing with the suspension of rear tire changer Jo Wright due to a violation of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy. NASCAR has strict regulations regarding substance use, and violations result in immediate suspension pending completion of the Road to Recovery Program.
To cover the gap, RFK Racing has brought in Coleman Dollarhide to replace Wright, beginning with last week’s race. Dollarhide, an experienced pit crew member, will look to help maintain consistency for Keselowski’s team as they continue their strong start to the season.
Looking Ahead
The suspensions will impact upcoming Cup Series races, but teams will have to adapt quickly to minimize the effects on performance. NASCAR remains firm on its safety and conduct policies, ensuring that teams comply with regulations designed to protect the integrity of the sport.
Both Stewart-Haas Racing and Richard Childress Racing will need to adjust their pit crew strategies for the next two events, while RFK Racing focuses on maintaining stability amid the lineup change. The next race will be a test of resilience for these teams as they push forward despite the setbacks.
