Six suspended by NASCAR with nine penalties issued after Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Following the recent NASCAR events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NASCAR has issued a series of penalties affecting teams across its top series. The sanctions include six suspensions and multiple fines, underscoring NASCAR’s commitment to maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Cup Series Penalties

Two prominent teams faced significant penalties due to safety violations involving detached wheels during the Pennzoil 400:

  • Richard Childress Racing’s No. 8 Chevrolet Team (Driver: Kyle Busch): Crew members Dylan Moser (jackman) and Shiloh Windsor (rear-tire changer) have been suspended for two races. This decision comes after Busch’s car experienced a wheel detachment during the race, leading to his early exit after just 35 laps.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 19 Toyota Team (Driver: Chase Briscoe): Crew members Caleb Dirks (jackman) and Daniel Smith (rear-tire changer) have also been handed two-race suspensions following a similar wheel detachment incident. Despite the issue, Briscoe managed to finish 17th in the event.

These suspensions will sideline the affected crew members for the upcoming races at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.

Xfinity Series Penalties

Post-race inspections in the Xfinity Series revealed unsecured lug nuts on several vehicles, resulting in fines:

  • $5,000 fines for each of the following teams due to one unfastened lug nut:
    • No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet
    • No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota
    • No. 26 Sam Hunt Racing Toyota
    • No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet

These infractions highlight the importance of meticulous attention to detail during pit stops to ensure both performance and safety.

Truck Series Penalties

In the Craftsman Truck Series, the No. 07 team was fined for having a loose lug nut during post-race inspection.

Substance Abuse Policy Violations

NASCAR also issued indefinite suspensions to two individuals for violations of the substance abuse policy:

  • Josiah Wright: Affiliated with the Cup Series.
  • Corbin Sklener: Affiliated with the Truck Series.

These actions reflect NASCAR’s strict enforcement of its substance abuse regulations to uphold the integrity of the sport.

These penalties serve as a reminder of NASCAR’s dedication to safety protocols and fair competition. Teams and personnel are expected to adhere strictly to established guidelines to ensure the well-being of all participants and the integrity of the sport.
