NASCAR Hall of Famer and renowned car collector Rick Hendrick has once again demonstrated his passion for high-performance vehicles by acquiring the first retail production model of the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 for a staggering $3.7 million. This acquisition took place at the recent Barrett-Jackson auction, where Hendrick outbid all competitors to secure this exceptional vehicle.

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is celebrated as the fastest car in America, boasting a top speed of 233 miles per hour. This pre-production model features a distinctive black and blue-striped livery, making it a standout addition to any collection.
Hendrick’s winning bid not only added a remarkable car to his extensive collection but also served a philanthropic purpose. The $3.7 million paid for the ZR1 was directed to the American Red Cross, supporting relief efforts for North Carolinians affected by Hurricane Helene and aiding Californians impacted by recent wildfires.
This latest acquisition underscores Hendrick’s enduring passion for Corvettes. His collection, housed in a 58,000-square-foot facility in Concord, North Carolina, includes over 150 vehicles, with more than 20 bearing the coveted VIN 001 designation. Notably, all these VIN 001 Corvettes share a black finish, aligning with the aesthetic of his latest ZR1 purchase.
Among the treasures in Hendrick’s collection is a convertible 1963 Corvette, significant as the car he drove on his first date with his wife. This vehicle holds sentimental value, having been sold to fund his initial auto dealership and later reacquired. His collection also features Corvettes from the “Transformers” movies, a 1967 Corvette once owned by musician Roy Orbison, and a 1968 model previously belonging to Belgium’s King Leopold III.

Rick Hendrick’s recent purchase of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 not only highlights his dedication to automotive excellence but also reflects his commitment to supporting charitable causes, solidifying his legacy both on and off the track.
