Thompson Speedway’s Icebreaker Postponed Due to Weather

April 4, 2025 – The highly anticipated Icebreaker event at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park has been postponed due to inclement weather. Originally set to kick off the northeastern racing season, officials made the difficult decision to delay the event for the safety of competitors and fans.

Thompson Speedway released a statement confirming the postponement, citing the impact of severe weather in the region. With heavy rains and strong winds affecting parts of New England, track conditions and travel concerns played a major role in the decision.

Rescheduling Details to Come

Officials have not yet announced a rescheduled date but assured teams and fans that they are working on finding a suitable replacement weekend. Those who purchased tickets in advance are expected to have options for refunds or transfers once a new date is confirmed.

An Unfortunate but Necessary Call

The Icebreaker is one of the most historic and anticipated early-season short track events in the Northeast, marking the unofficial start of Modified racing in New England. The decision to postpone is disappointing for fans and teams alike, but safety remains the priority.

“We know how much this event means to everyone, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our teams, fans, and staff,” a track spokesperson said.

With a new date on the horizon, Modified fans will have to wait a little longer for the first big show of the season—but when it does happen, it’s sure to be worth it.
