Park City, KS – May 7, 2025 — Persistent day-long rain and overly saturated grounds have unfortunately led to the cancellation of this Wednesday’s Roto-Rooter Midweek Series event at 81 Speedway. The announcement, made by track officials late Tuesday evening, comes as a disappointment to fans and drivers eager for midweek racing action in Kansas.
Located just north of Wichita, 81 Speedway has long been a hub for dirt track racing in the region, and the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series has become a much-anticipated midweek staple for both competitors and fans. However, with Mother Nature delivering continuous rainfall over the past 24 hours, the track and its surrounding facilities were deemed unfit for competition.
“Safety is always our top priority,” track officials said in a statement. “With the grounds fully saturated and no opportunity for proper track preparation, we’re unfortunately forced to cancel this week’s event. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and look forward to getting back on track next week.”
The cancellation is a setback for drivers competing for points in the Midweek Series, which has quickly grown in popularity thanks to its competitive fields and midweek convenience. No makeup date has been announced at this time, though series officials hinted that options are being considered depending on schedule flexibility and weather cooperation.
Fans who purchased tickets in advance are encouraged to contact the track for refund or credit options. Meanwhile, all eyes now turn to upcoming weekend races, with hopes for drier weather and a quick return to action.
