William Byron Dominates Opening Stage at Phoenix, Scores First Stage Win of 2025

March 10, 2025 – William Byron wasted no time asserting his dominance at Phoenix Raceway, leading all but five laps to claim victory in Stage 1 of the Shriners Children’s 500. Starting from the pole, Byron showcased the speed of his No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, securing his 24th career Stage Win and first of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Byron jumped out to an early lead at the green flag and held off challenges from key contenders throughout the stage. While a few drivers, including Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson, briefly took the top spot during pit cycles, Byron’s Camaro remained the class of the field.

The early pace at Phoenix saw minimal interruptions, with long green-flag runs allowing Byron to stretch his legs and demonstrate the balance of his race car. His control of the stage puts him in strong contention for the race win as he looks to secure his first victory of the season.
