Zane Smith, the 2022 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, is set to return to Front Row Motorsports (FRM) for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Smith will pilot the No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse under a multi-year agreement, reuniting with the team where he previously achieved significant success.
Smith’s earlier tenure with FRM was marked by notable accomplishments, including six race victories and the 2022 Truck Series championship. In 2024, he transitioned to Spire Motorsports for his rookie Cup Series season, securing four top-10 finishes and demonstrating consistent improvement throughout the year.
FRM’s expansion to a three-car lineup for the 2025 season was facilitated by acquiring a charter from the now-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing. This strategic move underscores the team’s commitment to growth and competitiveness in the Cup Series. Smith will join a youthful and dynamic driver roster at FRM, alongside Todd Gilliland and Noah Gragson, both of whom have shown promise in their NASCAR careers.
Expressing his enthusiasm about rejoining FRM, Smith stated, “I am thrilled to return to Front Row Motorsports and the No. 38 Ford Mustang. The team’s dedication to excellence and the opportunity to work with familiar faces make this a perfect fit. I look forward to building upon our past successes and competing at the highest level in the Cup Series.”
Team owner Bob Jenkins echoed Smith’s sentiments, noting, “We are excited to welcome Zane back to Front Row Motorsports. His talent and determination were evident during his previous tenure with us, and we believe he will be a valuable asset as we expand our Cup Series program. With Zane, Todd, and Noah, we have a strong driver lineup poised for success in 2025 and beyond.”
Ryan Bergenty has been appointed as Smith’s crew chief for the upcoming season, bringing a wealth of experience and a shared history with Smith that is expected to contribute to the team’s performance.
As the 2025 season approaches, Smith’s return to FRM is anticipated to bolster the team’s competitive edge, with fans and analysts alike eager to see how this reunion will translate on the track.
