MOON CHIME (3.58, nap) is expected to overcome top weight and make a winning comeback in the Paul Harrington 50th Birthday Celebrations Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle on Sunday.
The son of Pether’s Moon, a talented dual bumper winner, concluded last season with wins in both a Huntingdon maiden hurdle and a novice event at Newcastle.
Trained by David Killahena and Graeme McPherson, he seems poised to continue his improvement and exceed his British Horseracing Authority rating of 117, which may still be on the lenient side.
Earlier in the day at the Cumbrian course, MY BOBBY DAZZLER (2.18, nb) is tipped to take the Stephex Trucks UK Castletown Handicap Hurdle on his seasonal return.
The Mel Rowley-trained nine-year-old has proven to be a reliable hurdler and chaser in recent seasons, finishing a solid second out of 16 over three miles at Haydock in May.
A 3 lb rise for that strong effort seems reasonable, provided he’s ready to go after six months off.
