Tom Lunn has analyzed the cards, form, going, and more to help guide your horse racing betting choices.

Wednesday racing tips

CHEPSTOW
12.50: Kap Ouest 10/3 (1pt)
1.20: Tripoli Flyer 10/11 (1.5pts)
1.50: Got A Dream 5/1 each-way (1.5pts)
NOTTINGHAM
1.43: Huddle Up (to place) 5/4 (1pt)

Kap Ouest

The appeal of the 1/2 shot here is questionable. Kap Ouest was last seen in May, putting up a strong fight with Valgrand right to the finish.

It was an encouraging run for his hurdle debut, showing room for improvement.

That form has since proven strong, with Valgrand winning twice over hurdles since, including in the Grade 2 Sharp Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last month.

Trained by Dan Skelton, Valgrand is now rated 140, suggesting Kap Ouest has value at 10/3 against an untested hurdler from the same stable.

Royal Infantry, while a solid bumper performer, may not offer the same value despite his listed win at Newbury in February.

Tripoli Flyer

Using similar logic, there could be other second favorites worth backing at Chepstow, such as Jurancon, who placed second on hurdle debut and now faces Tripoli Flyer, an impressive bumper horse making his hurdle debut today.

Tripoli Flyer’s bumper form, including a close second to Horaces Pearl in a Grade 2 that also featured Valgrand, is promising.

With trainer Fergal O’Brien’s strong record for prepping hurdlers, the gelding has been backed down to 10/11 from evens, and he seems well-positioned to transition smoothly to hurdles.

Got A Dream

A similar case can be made for Let It Rain and French Ship in the 1.50 Maiden Hurdle.

The Skelton stable is having a strong start to the season, sending out Let It Rain as an odds-on favorite.

This mare, a two-time bumper winner, has drifted in price but remains favorite over French Ship, trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White.

French Ship, with a weight disadvantage and decent bumper form, has also drifted to 9/4. Got A Dream, at 5/1, offers an interesting each-way option.

Though he placed seventh in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree behind Horaces Pearl, Tripoli Flyer, and Valgrand, his price reflects solid value, especially given Nicky Martin’s recent form.

Huddle Up

In this race, Marching Mac is a clear favorite aiming for a fourth consecutive win under Grace McEntee for trainer Phil McEntee, though his recent success comes with a 7lb penalty.

Huddle Up, however, is a consistent choice, having placed in the top three 16 times across various conditions.

He’s a solid option for a placed effort, especially over course and distance. Meanwhile, Last Outlaw, a three-year-old who won a recent course and distance race featuring Huddle Up, also has a chance to make an impact.
